NYSC relocation on marital grounds is one of the three official reasons for redeployment of corps members, along with health and security reasons. It is meant to enable married female corps members to join their husbands in their states of residence and avoid any marital issues that may arise from being apart.
Requirements for NYSC Relocation on Marital Grounds
To apply for NYSC relocation on marital grounds, you need to submit the following documents:
- A formal application letter addressed to the Director-General of NYSC through the State Coordinator of your current state of deployment. The letter should state your name, call-up number, batch, current state of deployment, desired state of relocation, reason for relocation, and your husband’s address and phone number.
- A photocopy of your marriage certificate or affidavit of marriage.
- A photocopy of your husband’s national identity card or driver’s license or international passport or voter’s card.
- A photocopy of your husband’s letter of employment or utility bill showing his state of residence.
- A photocopy of your call-up letter and posting letter.
You need to submit these documents within the first three months of your service year, otherwise your application may not be considered. You also need to be ready to face an interview panel that will verify the authenticity of your documents and ask you some questions about your marriage.
