Additionally, you need to assess the suitability of your organization for hosting NYSC members. According to the NYSC Act, your organization must:
- Have a functional office with adequate facilities and equipment
- Have a clear organizational structure and hierarchy
- Have a well-defined job description and role for the Corps members
- Have a reasonable remuneration package and welfare scheme for the Corps members
- Have a mentorship and supervision system for the Corps members
- Have a feedback and evaluation mechanism for the Corps members
If your organization meets these criteria, you can proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Accommodation and Environment
Be prepared to provide comfortable and hygienic accommodation for the Corps members. A secure and safe environment is essential for their well-being during their service year. You can either arrange for a hostel, guest house, or apartment for them, or allow them to find their own accommodation within your vicinity.
You also need to ensure that your work environment is conducive for the Corps members. They should have access to basic amenities such as water, electricity, internet, and transportation. They should also be treated with respect and dignity by your staff and management.
Step 3: Determine the Type of Request
There are two types of requests you can make to the NYSC:
- Special Request: If you have a specific Corps member in mind (stating the name and state code), you can make a special request to have them posted to your organization. This is usually done when you have a personal or professional relationship with the Corps member, or when you need someone with a specific skill or qualification. However, this type of request is subject to approval by the NYSC authorities and may not be granted in some cases.
- Ordinary Request: If you don’t have a specific Corps member in mind, you can request NYSC to post suitable Corps members to your organization. This is done when you have a general need for manpower or talent in your organization. You can specify the number of Corps members you need, as well as their preferred disciplines or fields of study. The NYSC will then allocate Corps members to your organization based on availability and merit.
Step 4: Writing the Request Letter
When writing the request letter, address it to the NYSC state coordinator in the relevant state. Clearly state your intention and the number of Corps members you require.
If you are making a special request, mention the name and state code of the Corps member you want. If you are making an ordinary request, indicate the disciplines or fields of study you prefer.
Also, provide some information about your organization, such as its name, address, contact details, nature of business, and registration number.
Explain how your organization will benefit from hosting NYSC members, as well as how you will contribute to their personal and professional development.
Finally, attach copies of your CAC certificate, TIN certificate, and any other relevant documents that support your request. You can either send the letter by mail or deliver it in person to the NYSC state secretariat.

- A free accommodation in a hostel near our office
- A free transportation to and from work

- A feedback and evaluation mechanism
