Acceptable reasons for NYSC redeployment
NYSC redeployment is granted on any of the following three grounds:
- Security: This applies to states that are prone to terrorism, herdsmen attacks, or other forms of insecurity, such as Borno, Adamawa, Benue, Jos, etc. If you are posted to any of these states, you have a high chance of getting your redeployment approved if you apply.
- Marital: This applies to married female corps members who wish to serve in the same state as their husbands. To qualify for this, you need to provide evidence of your marriage, such as marriage certificate, newspaper change of name, husband’s ID card, domicile letter, utility bill, and wedding pictures.
- Health: This applies to corps members who have chronic or serious health conditions that require regular medical attention or care. To qualify for this, you need to provide a medical report from a government hospital or military clinic stating the nature and severity of your ailment.
How to apply for NYSC redeployment
If you want to apply for redeployment in camp, you need to follow these steps:
- Fill a form stating your reason and details for redeployment. You will be given this form in camp by the NYSC officials.
- Attach an application letter and evidence to support your reason for redeployment. For example, if you are applying on health grounds, you need a medical report from a government hospital or military clinic. If you are applying on marital grounds, you need your marriage certificate and other documents mentioned above.
- Submit the form and attachments to the appropriate NYSC official in camp.
- Wait for notification on your application status. You will be informed if your application is approved or rejected.
If you want to apply for redeployment online, you need to follow these steps:
- Visit the NYSC portal at https://portal.nysc.org.ng
- Sign in with your email and password; same as the ones you used in registering on the portal.
- Click on “Relocation”.
- Fill in your details appropriately into the fields provided.
- Wait for notification either by SMS or email on your application status. If your application is approved, you will be notified.
- Print your online relocation letter and take it to your new state of deployment.
What is NYSC PPA reposting?
NYSC PPA reposting is the process of changing your place of primary assignment (PPA) within the same state of deployment.
Your PPA is where you perform your service duties and contribute to national development. You may want to change your PPA for various reasons, such as distance, accommodation, welfare, relevance, etc.
Is it my responsibility to sort for PPA myself?
No, it is not your responsibility to sort for PPA yourself. The NYSC officials will assign you a PPA after your orientation camp based on your course of study and skills. However, if you are not satisfied with your assigned PPA, you can request for a change or look for another PPA yourself.
How do I request for a change of PPA?
If you want to request for a change of PPA, you need to follow these steps:
- Write an application letter addressed to the NYSC state coordinator stating your reason for requesting a change of PPA. You can also attach any evidence to support your reason if necessary.
- Submit the letter to the NYSC local government inspector (LGI) or zonal inspector (ZI) in charge of your area.
- Wait for approval or rejection of your request. If approved, you will be given a letter of release from your current PPA and a letter of acceptance from your new PPA.
- Report to your new PPA with the letters and resume your service duties.
Can I look for another PPA myself?
If you want to look for another PPA yourself, you need to follow these steps:
- Search for an organization or institution that is relevant to your course of study or skills and that is willing to accept you as a corps member.
- Obtain a letter of acceptance from the organization or institution stating that they are ready to accommodate you and provide you with the necessary facilities and welfare.
- Obtain a letter of release from your current PPA stating that they are releasing you to another PPA.
- Submit the letters to the NYSC LGI or ZI in charge of your area for approval.
